Choosing a barcode scanner for NZ warehouses
The wrong scanner slows every parcel that crosses the bench. The right one disappears into the workflow. Here is how we shortlist scanners for NZ warehouses, in the order that actually matters.
1. What are you scanning?
Modern 2D imagers read 1D and 2D codes, damaged labels and screens. Unless you have a legacy-only environment, choose 2D: it future-proofs courier labels, GS1 DataMatrix and QR workflows.
2. Where are you scanning?
- Counter or bench: corded 2D imager, no batteries, no pairing.
- Dispatch bench: cordless with a charging cradle buys reach without cable snags.
- Warehouse floor or cold store: ruggedised units rated for drops and temperature.
3. Volume and connection
High-volume sites want presentation scanning and keyboard-wedge simplicity; integrated sites want serial or SDK support. Honeywell, Zebra, Cino and Datalogic all have NZ-supported options in our range.
Tell us what and where you scan: we will shortlist two or three units with local warranty support.
